| I did my undergraduate studies in Chile, at the University of Chile in Santiago. I later went to Canada where I did a M.Sc. degree in botany with emphasis in plant molecular biology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. I am very interested in the use of phylogenetic methods to answer questions about plant evolution. Even though my project is not yet clear, I would like to work with the legume genus Astragalus and its representatives in the Chilean Andes, using phylogenetics to try to track down the evolution of ploidy in the New World. I would also like to answer questions about the geographic distribution of the genus and compare the radiation of the North American to the South American species. | ||||||
